Music is not a recent phenomenon but its origin goes back to the emergence of man himself. Various styles have been used to illustrate different Ragas and themes. Music is loved by all but its learning is restricted to a few. Earlier the music is taught by the gurus under Gurukula system and opportunities are also lees to those who were interested. Due to the outcome of latest techniques in improvisation of musical instruments, video and audio systems people are now enlightened in this field. A keen interest and zeal has been developed in the young as well as the old for learning some kind of music. The changes are so fast that even teaching techniques have to be improvised by the teachers.
S S Music Academy keeping in view the latest trends in music and by its practical exprience in teaching music for the last two years has come out with a novel idea of bringing out a text book primarily for the use of music students. It will be useful to students to appear for Music exams and helps them as a basic foundation for higher examinations. This book possess certain advantages over methods of teaching or learning have become rather sterotyped. It helps the students to spend more time in learning rather than copying the lessons.
In writing this book we have endevoured to strike a correct balance between the requirements of the subject and its usefulness to the young learners. There are many well known books on music but there are only a few that deal with simple notes. this book contains notes on Saraliswaras to Kirtanas besides theory and practicals with few symbols included where ever necessary. This book is based on the syllabus of GANDHARVA UNIVERSITY - MIRAJ-MAHARASTHRA. If the sutdents and teachers find this book useful and intersting, this will surely has served its purpose.
This book first edition is dedicated in memory of Late Sri Surya Kiran. His parents Gurazada Bhujanga Rao and Smt. Gurazada Venkatalakshmi have contributed generously.
