Book Description
About The Auther

R. M. Prabhulinga Shastry, a profound writer and spiritualist, deeply explores themes of love, spirituality, and kindness in his writings. His book "Sanatana" delves into the Veda's teachings, dharma, art, and more, presenting the concept of Sanatana as encompass beginningless to endless time and space, and discussing the cyclical nature of creation and destruction. Shastry touches on the eternal nature of energy, the signifi-cance of understanding the concept of Zero, and the Sanatanic practices of Veerashaiva Dharma. He contrasts Indian and Western thought, especially in literary creation and the understanding of karma. The text emphasizes the transformative power of art in realizing one's true self and the role of grammar in language comprehension. It also briefly mentions the educa-tional importance and impact of Osmania University and celebrates the teachings of Sri Rajender Krishan's "Amma's Gospel" on spiritual aware-ness and self-reliance. In summarizing, Shastry's work is a comprehensive reflection on spiritual and philosophical ideologies, emphasizing the path to enlightenment and the role of art and grammar in human development.

Foreword

Author R. M. Prabhulinga Shastry is a profound writer, spiritualist and has an intense knowledge of vast fields. Through his writings, he has developed a sense of love, spirituality and kindness among the readers and people around him.

His book Sanatana elaborates various aspects of the Veda's, dharma, Art and other subjects.

Author says-

The land Bharatakhanda or Bharatavarsha would be the land of Sanatana, which means beginningless to endlessness in terms of time and space. "Linga only exists in which entire creation gets annihilated and created again". Time is an illusion, while Matter is the Atom which can not be destructed but could be disintegrated and ultimately transformed into the Energy. The Energy is neither Time nor Matter even neither illusionary nor transitory nor even permanence though it is indestructible. The Guru who would master the Zero (i.e. the Linga) would only be the Bhakta (devotee) who intends to know and learn what would be Zero.

Veerashaiva Dharma is Sanatanic and is preached in ancient scriptures like Vedas. Atma is the only subject in every religion that is accepted as one of religions of Sanatana Dharma. Bauddha and Jaina religions also discuss Atma, but there is quite a difference between Atma and Soul. Jeevatma is not some other but Kevala Shiva, and Parvati is Shakti of Shiva only. All twenty-eight Shivagamas and two hundred and seven Upagamas preach Veerashaivism along with other things.

The text discusses two types of thought: Indian and Western. The Indian thought is of preachers and sages who believe in and practice the theory of "karma". The Indian literary-grammarians believe that poetry, is a thing of experience and cannot be written without it. The poet writes what he envisions, even if he is unaware of what he is writing. William Shakespeare's poetry often sounds like Indian thought, especially in "A Midsummer Night Dream". The text argues that poets go beyond grammar of language and formulate opinions based on their race, religion, caste, lineage, etc.

Art, in four forms: Literature, Music, Dance, and Drawing, is a responsibility that has been created to help all humans regain their former selves. The Almighty, who once was the subject and matter, has become various types of beings, and some humans have been endowed with all four fine arts. These individuals must obey the preordination of the Art to help others regain their lost selves.

Art grieves over humans with fine arts due to their associations with previous incarnations and their ability to uphold this endowment. If a human being consecrates their endowment to itself or the Almighty, they become the Almighty for a period, without being influenced by sense pleasure. This period allows the being to be free from sense-pleasure and be aware of their own 'Omniness'.

Being endowed with fine art allows individuals to act and behave like the Almighty, who cannot be biased by any sense or pleasure at any cost.

Grammar is the study of the language system, which helps the listener or reader understand what a speaker or writer means. Each language has its own identity based on its words, which are made of letters. English language differs from Indian languages, as each word contains specific letters and sounds. Learners of English language must learn letters and their order to express sound, unlike Indian languages where a word is a sign of a particular sound. Sri J. Sharanappa's book on English Grammar focuses on eleven topics, including verbs, tense, voice speech, degree, articles, and preposition. These topics are essential for daily conversations, conversational correspondence, and formal correspondence. The book provides examples of phrases for both teachers and students of English grammar. The book is appreciated for its concise content, which is useful for secondary and under-graduate students.

The Headmaster, a father of two students, congratulates them on passing S.S.C. but is concerned about their reputation being vulgarized due to their job. Buchchaiah, the father of Manikyam and Muthyalu, reveals that they are illiterate and have a mistake in their Memorandum of marks. The Headmaster explains that this is a common clerical error and can rectify the error. Buchchaiah asks when and how long it will take to rectify the error. The Headmaster explains that they must submit the matter to the Higher Authorities and that it takes at least three days for the post to be delivered to the board.

Osmania, a university established by the King of Princely State, has become a symbol of higher education for the wealthy. Initially, it was only accessible to nobles, feudals, and upper caste individuals. However, the university has since become a hub for research, infrastructure, and eminent scholars. Despite being criticized for its oppressive nature, Osmania has proven its resilience against undemocratic administration. Today, it stands for social justice and democratic values, enriching its subjects and advocating for justice. Osmania has produced notable personalities like P.V. Narasimha Rao, who has become the Prime Minister of India. The author expresses gratitude to Sri. Sane Shiva Shanker for his efforts in composing a poem on Osmania, wishing him success and aspires for more unique poetic works. Sri Rajender Krishan's Amma's Gospel begins with the poem "Om," which is regarded as Pranava Nada, the first form of the Energy believed to be consort of the Almighty. The Energy is considered Primordial, from the beginning to endlessness, and the Gospel is preached by the Mother, who bestowed her own experience and knowledge upon all striving to achieve unknown things. Amma emphasizes the importance of being aware when extending greetings and admitting foolishness with thanks. She also teaches that one should achieve for themselves, as there is no one to give what one prays for. Amma, as an absolute authority over Indian Thought, draws attention to the fact that life lives majestically in myriad forms and impulses. The Absolute Truth, as envisioned by Veerashivism, is that there will be nothing more to know, gain, or lose. The One who can have faith in the doctrine that each and every one is the Almighty, is known, preached, honoured, venerated, and believed as the Almighty.

I convey my best wishes to the Author R. M. Prabhulinga Shastry for his book "Sanatana". May his spirituality scatter the harmony and peace not only over the readers of this book but the whole world directly or indirectly.
