There are quite a few who know a bit of Samskrita and would very much desire to speak and converse in this great language. But they lack expression. Right words and right construction of sentences fail them and often they have to indulge in some verbal acrobatics. The answer to this predicament can only be to have on hand sets of suitable readymade sentences. That would at one stroke give confidence and knowledge to match one's expressions with one's ideas and emotions.
The present 'Samskrita Vyavahara Sahasri' is the fruit of several successful experiments carried out in 'Speak Samskrit Camps' conducted in several parts of the country.
When a similar collection of a few hundred simple sentences for the use of school-going children was brought out, demand mounted for an expanded version of the same for the use of people of all age-groups. Many scholars came forward to fulfil this need, to whom we offer our heartfelt gratitude.
The original publication was in Samskrit and Kannada and it's English version was prepared by Prof. G.S. Mudambadithaya. The fourth edition was completely revised by Smt. Sarita Krishna Shastry. ,
The sentences presented here have been selected on the criterion of their utility and applicability in day-to-day life. Obviously, the present selection of sentences needs continuous improvement in the light of further experiments and experience. We earnestly solicit suggestions from our enlightened students of Samskrita in this regard.
