I know Prof. Sharma since 30 years. I had the privilege of being called his student during my P.G. Course of Study, when Sri Sharma was Director of Post-graduate Institute in Indian Medicine at B.H.V. I had many occasions to see him closely in many Committees constituted by Govt. of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare when I worked in the Ministry as Dy. Advisor/ Advisor I/C Ayurveda.

His knowledge is vast and unlimited, whatever the subject we may choose Ayurveda, Vedanta, Puranic or Sanskrit literature he speaks at random with authority by quoting various references. His knowledge of modern Botany is so profound and prodigious that he is considered as the only authority in Pharmacognosy of Ayurveda drugs of the 20th century.

He happened to be one of my examiners for Ph.D. in Ayurveda at BHU, and asked me that when the Chetanaia or conscience of spermatozoa 'is continued in the Zygote, how it prevails that Aatma enters into the. Zygote and his happiness knew no bounds when he received a prompt reply from me that the movement of any tissue spermatozoa is due to ojus and vanishes after some time unless it is replenished by Aatma. Not that he has sound knowledge in various spheres; he also has a critical and scientific acumen in all his pursuits which is a rare combination.

His inclination and interest in writing books as a means of spreading his knowledge is highly commendable and I salute him for his untiring patience in doing so.

I hope this Volume brings out various experiences of the writers in close proximity to Sri Sharmaji which may help many people to know, what Sharmaji is.

Lastly, I pray Lord Viswanath of Kashi to bestow on Sharmaji a very long and healthy life so that new generation may also be able to learn a lot from this majestic erudite man who is a colossus of knowledge.
