This is a short brochure containing the thoughts of Swami Vireswarananda, President of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Belur, and deals with many vital questions that are at present facing our country. National integration, socialistic pattern of society, secularism, fundamental rights and other concepts like these are talked about everywhere today. These themes are usually expounded by politicians and social scientists who know very little of the Indian tradition. Swami Vireswaranandaji's critical estimates of these concepts in the light of Indian spiritual tradition will be very helpful to students of India's current national reconstructive efforts. These thoughts were embodied in two lectures that the Swamiji gave at Bangalore and Bombay. Necessarily these expositions should have reached a comparatively limited audience then. We are therefore bringing them as a booklet, so that these precious thoughts may reach a much wider public.
