Dr Siju P.V. is a practicing homeopathic consultant at the Karthika Homeopathic Clinic, he has graduated from Father Muller's Homeopathic Medical College, Mangalore and has post-graduated from JSPS Government Homeopathic Medical College, Hyderabad. He has conducted workshops on repertory, presented papers in seminars and written articles in journals. He is now engaged in writing some more literary works on repertory.
Repertories are continuously evolving from the birth of homeopathy till today. Each author tries to prepare a reference book in his clinical practice from his personal experience as well as by referring to different source books. This is done in order to make his clinical practice easier. These works later become bulky for a sincere practitioner and the thoughts of publishing it by incorporating some more data into it comes. The best repertory is the one, which is made by self.
There are an enormous number of repertories in the homeopathic system of medicine; still very few have utilized this simple and compact tool till recently. The problem is that each repertory has its own philosophy and plan of construction. Hence, it is difficult for every physician to know each and every repertory thoroughly. It also becomes very difficult for a beginner to find a symptom. Also, to repertorise these symptoms is another big task, as it takes almost half a day to properly repertorize one case manually.
As the technology is advancing all over the world to simplify various processes, new ideas have also developed in homeopathy in the form of Card Repertories initially followed by Computer Softwares. This made drastic changes in the view point of homeopaths regarding the repertory. It's very easy to find the rubrics and do repertorisation on the computer. It hardly takes five to ten minutes to complete the entire process of repertorisation.
When I was studying for post-graduation, there were not many reference books to peep into while presenting topics on repertory and to clear the doubts. So, in order to solve the problem, which I faced during my studies, I bring forth for you this book, presenting the subject of repertory in a simplified, systematic and informative manner.
Very few controversies and mistakes can be seen in this book. However, if the readers feel that the some data is wrong kindly feel free to discuss the points with your colleagues and please do inform me of your view.
If you are looking for a reliable and informative book on the subject of repertory which can be relied by a PG student as well as a UG student, this is the book. The author has done his best to put in all the information about 50 repertories, both big and small. With my experience as a teacher I can say that it is difficult to find information about various clinical and regional repertories. This book provides all this information besides various other useful features like short notes on topics of interest.
I had known Dr. Siju as a student in Hyderabad college. He asked me a question about the existence of Hering's repertory. I gave him the information besides email ID of Julian Winston who was kind enough to confirm the existence of this repertory. Likewise Dr. Siju has verified the number of remedies in different repertories and years of their publication.
In short, I can say that no such book, complete in information and authentic at the same time, has appeared so far and therefore I recommend this to all students.
Dr. Siju is to be warmly congratulated for the great labour he has put in.
