Preface The most important and influential discovery was the practice of Surgery. Susruta samhita is one of the practical, authentic and original compendiums of ancient Indian surgical sciences with utmost precision. This excessive in terms of diagnostic soundness, logic of decision making and wealth 01 practical detail makes the testimony 'a surgical genius'.

For Susruta, human life was a note in the symphony 01 the universe and a discordant note called for correction in so far as it restored the grandeur of the symphony.

Ksarasutra is such an area of fascination and has a tremendous role in the field of Colo-proctology in ailing the humanity. All these developments in the fragment of surgery never disregard the role of surgeons and Susruta always allowed exercising their own judgment in defining the role of Ksarasutra in determining the area of scope.
