Beginning 1960s, Marxist ideology was the flavour of the youth. Convinced about the revolution that must come, three friends-Rajen, Suri and Mallana-set out charting their paths through the Left-Wing organisations and movement. When they meet again after the momentous decades, there is no scope to be judgemental; they must accept the vicissitudes of life.

The dramatis personae: Rajen, Suri and Mallanna find their lives intertwined in the events that shape the nation's history. In the author's words: Rajen had come to the city from a nearby town to pursue his undergraduate course in commerce. He was a student of biology, physics and chemistry. Suri hailed from a village, more like a suburb in the outskirts of the city. Mallanna came from a landlord family from a district bordering the state. The area where he came from was well-known for coal mines owned and operated by a government company.
