The book " Purusottama Ksetra" makes on attempt to provide a brief outline of Shri Jagannatha Temple and culture. There are nine chapters in the book. The book presents a picture of the ksetra, the God, temple style, mini temples in the temple surrounding, rituals, decorations, festivals of the lord, monasteries associated in the rituals of the lord and devotees of Lord Jagannath.
The book also provides a brief description of temples in the ksetra. The book may prove to be very much useful for common readers as well as research scholars.
Born in 1953 in Sakhigopal in Dist of Puri passed M.A. in Economics in 1974 and completed Ph.D. in Economics in 1991. Joined as a lecturer in Economics in 1975, promoted to the post of Reader in Economics in 1991 and senior Reader in Economics 1996. At present working as Controller of Examinations in Shri Jagannatha Sanskrit Viswavidyalaya, Puri, Orissa, India.

The first chapter deals with description of the Ksetra, Ksetra mahatmya, antiquity, the concept of Purusottama, formation of Jagannatha triad, development of Visnu cult in Orissa, architectural features of the temple along with its conservation and Jagannatha in the administrative dynamics in Orissa.
The second chapter provides the description of temples installed in the outer and inner compound of the temple.
The third chapter deals with puja rituals where as the fourt, fifth and sixth chapters deal with decoration, festivals of the Lord and functionaries associated in performing sevapuja (rituals) in the temple respectively.
The seventh chapter provides a brief description of mathas installed by acarya's of different sects of Hindu religion vis-a-vis temple rituals.
The eighth chapter sketches in an analytical description of the life and feelings of devotees who see the Lord in their own religious proclivities.
