This creation had its own natural philosophy. Materials were formed out of energies and such energies themselves came out of materials as enunciated in the Bhagavad Gita (Ch. XIV) stating that Vaishwanara energy converted materials into heat and consequently heat into energy. The Earth, a constituent of the Universe is totally dominated by unseen forces, that are vital and effective causing what is called momentum. One such vital energy, called Jeevatma lives in it and is in all living entities and all vital forces are governed by the Knower - Parabrahma! "Neither existence nor non-existence was there Neither matter nor space beyond was there What was wrapping where, in whose protection Then that Plasma, all-pervading, deep and profound. Neither Death nor Immortality was there Neither the day nor the night was there But for the one breathed without breath by own impulse Other than that there was nothing, surely nothing. It was all darkness wrapped in darkness The continuum of Dark Cosmic Ocean Out came the material form Emerging through the power of Austerity
Purusha Suktha is a popular Vedic mantra and it is generally recited in temples and homes while performing various rituals. In fact persons in most of the traditional homes are not only familiar with this Suktha but know it by heart and render it with great accuracy according to Vedic pronunciation and intonation. My father of the Vedic tradition taught me this Suktha almost seventy years ago when I was a brahmachari and I recite it even now on occasions. Thus this Suktha has made a deep impression on me and my family. In other words this Suktha is practically symbolic of the Vedic tradition. Most of us are well versed in reciting this wonderful and sublime suktha but we do not know who this purusha is. Not that we are not interested in knowing this but the real problem is that there are not many people who can guide us. Added to it most of us do not know Samskrit language in which this Suktha is composed. Here comes Sri N.S. Dwarakanath of our own city. He is a businessman following ethical principles and always thinking of and writing about Philosophy and metaphysics. There are many books on Purusha Suktha but this book is unique. It gives the original each sloka in Kannada, Roman transliteration and the literal meaning word by word followed by a discussion on the content of the Sloka. It is done in simple language so that every common man interested in Purusha Suktha can understand its meaning and significance. I know Sri Dwarakanath from a long time as a numismatist and he used to attend our annual conferences of South Indian Numismatic Society held at various places. Suddenly he brought this book on Purusha Suktha and requested me to write a foreword. I was taken aback and was pleasantly surprised at his other talent which is before the readers now. Ethical business is his profession and spirituality is his passion. Speaking in numismatic parlance coins and business are the obverse and spirituality is the reverse. Another important factor is that he has written this book both in English and Kannada. The former will be useful for the persons throughout the country and latter will be useful to the persons at home. The scholarly introduction in simply amazing and will enlighten the reader.
The formation of the Universe still remains a mystery and can at best be defined as a Thought process of exploring the Unknown and to be left to the knower of all forces of Life, the unknown-the Soul. The Knower, the Supreme Spirit desired to create and thus the Universe was created, This creation had its own natural philosophy. One such vital energy, called Jeevatma lives in it and is in all living entities and all vital forces are governed by the Knower Parabrahma! Human kind has put in best efforts to peep into space because of the intelligence bestowed upon mankind, resulting in man putting his footprints on the moon besides endeavouring into in-depth studies of other planets through the latest instruments, technologies and even Artificial Intelligence besides scientific study of the meteorites that have reached the earth from far off planets, millions of miles away from earth, but till date one is yet to find traces of life elsewhere, thereby confirming that God lives with us in many forms. It is left to us discover HIM and SEE HIM! This Treatise is just my humble effort trying to discover and see HIM, as already seen through one of the profound scriptures that are a gift to us from our ancestors, the Purusha Sukta. It was my good fortune that I got associated with Sri S. Ramasesha Sharma who has edited this book and I express my thanks to him. I am thankful to my printer, Sri Ramnath of Guptha Prnters, Smt. Nagarathna who rendered the DTP. I should express my special thanks to my wife Smt. Purnima and other family members of mine, besides the donors to Sanatathana Sabha, for their kindness in promoting Sanathana Dharma.
