2011 became a historical year for homeopathy in India. After a gap of 16 long years, international homeopathic congress of LMHI happened in the country and gave way to several thought-provoking deliberations. With about 2000 delegates from various parts of the world and more than 200 key resource persons, the conference proved to be a fertile ground for exchange of information, knowledge and latest happenings in homeopathic field in various parts of the world. The policymakers expressed their opinions about existing policies and presented strategies to bring about a change in positive direction; the researchers brought onto surface the key and urgent areas for homeopathic research, the clinicions presented their experiences in various conditions and so during the four days of the Congress, the participants, comprising mostly of physicians from various fields, students and educationists, just couldn't have enough.

Considering the vastness of the knowledge shared on this platform, recording and co-ordinating the events minute to minute, one, for the video and, second, for the proceedings was a tough calling. Nevertheless, a special LMHI 2011 DVD set, comprising of five DVDs and incorporating not only the video coverage of all the sessions, but also the power point presentations, posters, souvenir and photographs of the Congress was prepared so that the vital points of the Congress are not left unattended by the policymakers and the participants alike. And with this scrupulous compilation of LMHI Proceedings, we attempt to do justice to the second challenge.

Inside, the pages are loaded with edifying papers of most speakers; report, recommendations and other details of the Congress and some exclusive highlights of the Congress captured by our cameramen. The readers would appreciate that the papers presented inside have by and large been spared the editors' corrections, the basic motto behind this compilation being not of becoming an active medium for knowledge transmission like journals, but only a passive one, whereby the papers could be passed on to the participants and other enthusiasts. I would like to mention here that the authors who made their oral presentations at the Congress, but could not submit their full papers or those whose papers were copyrighted or too lengthy, it was decided to place the abstracts of their works in order not to miss rewarding their contribution to the Congress, it is worthy to mention here that the infrastructural and technical support of Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy New Delhi, has been instrumental in preparation of the proceedings.

With this presentation to the fraternity, the official tasks of Team LMHI 2011 come to an end. Nevertheless, the continues to stay dedicated for the cause of homeopathy as LMHI-India Congress'. I would, however, not want to miss this opportunity to express my gratitude to those who made LAMHI 2011 a special and successful endeavour. To the international team of UMHI for guiding us right from the preparation to the stage of execution; to the honourable ministers who spared time and shared with the delegates their valuable thoughts; to the homeopathic legends in India who eventually became pillars of the Congress; to the working team who brought together the event with an untiring zeal and to the participunts who brought to the Congress its real sheen through their inquisitiveness and active participation, I am forever indebted.

The 66 World Homeopathic Congress of Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis added a new chapter to the history of homeopathy in India. The last LMHI Congress that took place in India was in 1995. The transformation in the field of medicine in these 16 years was clearly evident in the scientific presentations in various sessions of the Congress and deliberations thereupon. Every science is today focussing on scientific research to strengthen its pillar on which it stands. That homeopathy is following the order of the day and acting accordingly was visible every bit in the Congress. It was also a matter of privilege for Indian homeopaths to exchange notes with the best brains of homeopathy from various parts of the world and discuss with them about the current global status of homeopathy, urgent research needs in homeopathy and the key issues concerning the progress of homeopathy, as a whole.

While the audio-visual presentations were educative in their own way, the novel concept of e-posters too proved to be an equally good learning source. The poster presenters savoured this chance to express their ideas to small groups of interested delegates, as that allowed better interaction. The Congress also brought to the homeopathic world an opportunity to discuss on core issues like policymaking, strategic position of homeopathy in the international scenario of public health, good manufacturing and clinical practices, role of homeopathy in various clinical conditions in human beings and animals and standardised homeopathic education.

These Proceedings are being presented to the fraternity as a reflection of the happenings of the Congress. For those who attended the Congress, the Proceedings would provide an opportunity to recapitulate their enriching experiences of the Congress, while for those who could not be a part of this event, these would hold even bigger worth, by providing exposure to the sessionwise happenings of the Congress and inspire them to take advantage of such congresses in future. No wonder then, the demand for these Proceedings has been increasing by the day from the delegates and non-delegates alike.

I earnestly hope that like the previous Proceedings from other LMHI conferences, these Proceedings too will make a valued addition to your library. Feedbacks are requested, for no task is complete until it is meticulously executed by the doers, benefited by the users and fed back upon by the active communicators.
