This book is unique. Only those who are privileged and blessed will have the opportunity to read it.
This pen picture of SRI AMMA has been written by a devotee who has been closely associated with her for over 50 years. He has meticulously highlighted every nuance of the way she has lived in our midst helping her devotees, asthikas and abhimanis. He has given positive evidence that she is a poorna avatar - incarnation - of Her Grace Akhilandeswari residing in Thiruvanaikovil at Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli.
I can do no better than to briefly outline some of the memorable experience of Her devotees to inspire the reader to read through the book with the kind of concentration and devotion it merits.
Her Grace Akhilandeswari -Poorna Avatar
His Holiness Sri Chandrasekara Swamigal of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Popularly known as Paramacharya, declared Her as Akhilandeswari incarnate following a meeting with Her when She was hardly 15 years of age. Sri Amma told the Paramacharya "Years ago you did Thatanga Prathishta" (adorning me with ear rings.) 1 promised to give you my dharshan and now I have come before you in this form. She appeared before Sri Paramacharya quite differently.
(The Thatanga Prathishta was done by Sri Adisankara to Her Grace Akhilandeswari at Thiruvanaikovil some 1500 years ago. She was referring to that incident).
At her age of 16, when Sri Paramacharya deputed one Silpi, a sculpture artist to meet Sri Amma. He remarked to Her that since she was only a young maiden reverence for Her did not spring up in him. Sri Amma comforted him by immediately changing Her form. She appeared before Mr Silpi not as a maiden but as a woman of forty and from then onwards, for many months, she appeared to Silpi only as a middle aged woman.
Her Grace Akhilandeswari manifests Herself
Later one of her devotees wanted to see Sri Amma in the form She appears in Her Temple at Thiruvanaikovil. He made this request hesitatingly after offering Her his devotional pooja. Immediately Sri Amma took a garland that lay nearby and putting it around Her neck said to him. "Now, here look at me". He could not look at Her. He was terror stricken. He closed his eyes, slapped his cheeks with his palms and shouted, "Enough, Enough". You please come back to your normal form".
Now She Appears as Sri Rajarajeswari
On another occasion Sri Amma was seated in the Pooja Room. On that evening she showed herself as Sri Raja Rajeswari. "We were all terribly afraid of even going near her. Sri Amma asked me to bring a cup of water and I went to the kitchen to bring it. At that time my mother-in-law saw a brilliant light coming out of Her. She lit a ball of camphor before Sri Amma". Ordinarily champhor when lit would completely burn itself up. But that evening the ball of camphor that got itself burnt suddently shot up and took the shape of a cup. The flame had died. So now there was again the same camphor in a different shape. It might not have been a new one. But it had turned purple in colour. Sri Amma asked to light it again. "I tried but failed. I looked up at Sri Amma, said a prayer and tried again". Now the camphor caught the fire from the lighted match stick and was completely burnt up. Just as a piece of camphor burns itself and becomes completely extinct so also our soul should lose its individual identity and become one with the Supreme self. For that, Divine grace is very essential. That was the lesson to be learnt.
