Now-a-days marriages are celebrated on a lavish scale. The real success of a marriage lies in the happiness of the bride and the bridegroom rather than the grandeur of the ceremony. When one looks at this angle, one is disturbed to know that in a considerable number of marriages the spouses are quarrelling amongst them on flimsy grounds even before completion of one year of marriage. Main causes could be attributed to disappointments over expectations. Actually in all these cases, the spirit of sacrifice, mutual understanding and adjustments between the spouses which are the basic requirements for a successful marriage are lacking. They do not look to marriage beyond the honeymoon. They should understand that marriage is an event involving lifelong responsibilities-raising a family and lifelong enjoyments.
An attempt has been made in this book to explain in brief the responsibilities at various stages of life and how to resolve the problems and how to lead and enjoy a happy and harmonious life.
According to Satguru Sri K.Sivananda Murty "Regretless life is a successful life.
Marriage is an institution created by God to unite a man and a woman as companions to live and enjoy life happily as husband and wife. Human life is a rare gift and if we miss to utilize the life, period of life missed cannot be recalled or retrieved. Those who have failed to enjoy the intense companionship, mutual love, and harmonious life, have missed the best part of their life. The missed parts of their life constitute a regretful part of life.
It is hoped that this book will serve as a guide to the young as well as other married couples. Guidelines have also been explained with a practical approach to secure a happy and harmonious life, begetting and bringing up virtuous children. The importance of mutual respect, controlling impulsive reaction and anger, and cultivating patience and tolerance among the spouses has been explained.
Sri Dharmarajan is a retired high level financial officer. He comes from an orthodox family in South India and so necessarily he is a staunch devotee of Acharyas of all sects. He was brought up in a society that adhered to the ethical and moral values of life. Not restricting himself to office work, he took interest in the welfare of the youth who he found are faced with challenges of various kinds issuing from a transforming society. During the last half a century, we notice, in our country migration of people from towns and villages of the South to the urban centers of the North. This migration is necessitated by historical and social changes in the country. Since the last two decades this migration is not confined to the borders of the country, it has stretched beyond becoming global. Settling down at many centers abroad, the migrants faced challenges in life style, though their material need is fulfilled. Mr. Dharmarajan has a social concern and so he set upon himself the task of finding answers for the challenges which resulted in this book. He sought his answers in the ancient wisdom contained in the holy texts, talks given by saints and above all in living examples. His is not "Nishkamya Karma", it is karma voluntarily undertaken for the welfare of the youth; surely the elders also can find answers for questions posed by the generation gap. And so I strongly recommend this book to everyone as it is a manual for noble life and this is also an ideal gift for marriages.
