Any concert of Carnatic Music. even today, would predominantly have the compositions of Thyagaraja, Muthuswami Deekshitar and Syama Sastry, the Trinity of South Indian Classical Music. Maestros as well as beginners prefer Trinity’s compositions to be sung more and frequently. In this context we felt the need of familiarizing the compositions of post Trinity Composers who have contributed considerably to the growth of Carnatic Music following the path shown by their pioneers, the Trinity and others. In this direction, the Department of Music, Kannur University has organized a national Seminar on the topic "Post Trinity Composers of Carnatic Music’ from 22"4 to 24" January 2019 at our Swamy Ananda Tirtha (SAT) Campus in Edat, Payyanur, Kerala. The response was overwhelming and we’ve got good number of scholarly articles from senior Professors as well as Research scholars. The Department takes this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation of the efforts of everyone who has contributed to this seminar. We are grateful to our Vice Chancellor Prof. Gopinath Ravindran for providing us this Opportunity to organize the National seminar and publish the papers presented there. Department of Music is also thankful to Members of the Syndicate, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. P.T. Raveendran, Registrar, Controller of Examinations and Finance Officer for their encouragement and support.
We are also thankful to Ekta Books, new Delhi who have undertaken the publication of this book. We hope that this publication would be beneficial to scholars of Music as well as other interested knowledge seekers.
