About the Author:

Prof. Pandey joined the Department of Asian Studies, Istituto Universitario Orientale, Naples, Italy in 1976. He received D. Phil, from Allahabad University, Allahabad, in 1960. From 1962 to 1965 he taught at the University of Chicago. From 1965 to 1967 he was a fellow of the American Institute of Indian Studies. From 1968 to 1975 he taught at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. He was also visiting fellow of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Simla (India) and the University of Poona for sometime. In 1984 he taught at the University of Wisconsin, Madison (U.S.A.). He has published the following books along with may research papers and reviews in the international journals.
