About the Author

Lalit Kilam was raised an orthodox Brahmin and was educated in an Ayurvedic school within the mountainous region of the Himalayas. He has received a Master degree in engineering at one of the prestigious universities in Europe. There he realized the scientific nature regarding the philosophy of yoga in day to day life; an approach towards the betterment of human life; and how it contributes to the ancient eastern and western philosophies comprehensible to scholars common people and devotee alike.

At present he is serving computers and interconnecting the masses by providing internet services via high speed and wireless broadband to customers in Saskatchewan Canada.

He is founder of the Vedic Yoga Center; and studies of the ancient eastern and western philosophy.

His previous literary works include Existence and yoga, existence and Beyond and Yoga Practices. “Be established in Yoga and do all your duties for well being and happiness”

 

Foreword

Yoga means “Union” i.e. the union of the individual’s soul with the universal. Yoga is an ancient philosophy of life as well as a system of exercises that encourages the union of mind body and spirit. In the words of sage Patanjali author of the Yoga sutras “Yoga is the ability to focus the mind on a single point without distraction. “Yoga is a physical discipline; it uses the body ad breathing to develop self awareness and mental clarity.

Yoga is a perfect way to attain elevation of mind and move towards truth and welfare. The art of Yoga developed by ancient Indian sages is a divine science that imparts a number of benefits on the performer. Yoga is the best technique for making a person calm and relaxed. It helps to lower the level of stress hormone in the body. Other benefits include lowering blood pressure and heart rate, improving digestion and improving the immune system of the body.

Yoga is the best way to understand our own self better on all levels. A Yogic scholar can bring out the best in his personality by creating unison in thought speech and action in a most comprehensive way. The practice of Yoga bestows the bounties of life on earth fulfilling one wishes and attuning to the spiritual dynamic energy by upfoldment of one latent potential within.

Maharsi Patanjali says in his Yoga sutras (Second Book, verse 2)

Yoga is for the purpose of establishing meditation and for the purpose of extenuating such as ignorance egotism, desire, aversion, and tenacity.

Philosophy of Yoga the present book by Lalit kilam is indeed a welcome publication. The author has done a commendable work in bringing out this book on Yoga in front of readers and learners. Only an earnest follower of Yoga can dwell into the deep ocean of Yogic science. He is himself a performer as well as a teacher of Yoga from last several years. His own postures inside the book of various asanas of Yoga indicate his mastery on various techniques of Yoga. This book is an outcome of his devotion to Yoga and its philosophy. He has also written very useful chapters on Cakras and the ancient medical science i.e. Ayurveda the relation of Yoga and Ayurveda and the importance of Ayurvedic diet for good health and good thoughts.

In this volume the mistake of mine are an indicator of my ignorance as I am a student of yoga myself; and so should be excused. Lessons that may be received by the reader are because of the blessings of God at the Tirumala hill.
