Dr. Nitin Ujjaliya born on 30th June 1983 in a village of Madhya Pradesh. He has completed BAMS with Gold Medal from Vikam University, Ujjain in the year 2008 and received Jivaka Award from Himalaya Drug Company, Bangalore. Did Post graduation in Dravyaguna Vijnan from Vaidyaratnam P. S. Varier Ayurveda College, Kottakkal; one of the renowned institute in India. Awarded first prize in National inter collegiate essay competition organized by Dhatri Ayurveda Foundation, Ernakulum. He also has published two books one on Aromatic plants and another Shorts notes on Dravyaguna for students. He has published 12 research articles in international journals and has participated in National and International conferences and presented 15 papers.
This book is an outcome of the constant thinking on pathogenesis of diseases of respiratory system and the action of drugs on there. This is based on understanding of respiratory system, tridosha and stages of disease. The contents of book are consisted but it will help for quick review on pathogenesis of respiratory diseases, properties of drugs acting on this system and there mode of action. This has been described on dosha level as well as according to stages of disease and diseased.
I am thank full to my teachers Dr. Debashish panda, Dr. Sangamitra dash, Dr. R. Remadevi, Dr. N.D. Vashishtha, Dr. Madhu, Dr. Prakash Mangalaserry, Dr. Harivenkatesh, Dr. Hariom gupta; who lighted the lantern of Ayurveda and specially writing on the topics of Ayurveda. Also I wish to place on record my sincere thanks to my colleagues of Vaidyaratnam P. S. Around 100-150 million people in world which is roughly equivalent to Russian population suffers from respiratory diseases. In India around 30 million people are suffering from it. Asthma is a major respiratory disorder result of many disorders like allergy, bronchitis and sinusitis etc. Due to rapidly increased environmental pollution; respiratory disorders are also increased as Sinusitis, Bronchitis, Asthma, Emphysema, Pleurisy and various types of Allergies.
The principle contributory factor involved in the development of the diseases comprises of Vata, Kapha and Rasa dhatu in a successive order. There would be an aama condition; if functions of Dhatvagni and Jatharagni are not proper. Kapha here comes out from Pranavaha srothas in the form of Rasadhatu-mala (sputum).
Vata will be aggravated in Pranavaha srothas due to blockage of its normal pathway by malaroopi kapha resulting Dyspnoea, Cough, Chest tightness etc.
Present book discusses the drugs which are found effective in respiratory practice with their Ayurvedic and Modern Pharmacological action on respiratory system. It also contains introductory Anatomy of lungs, Physiology of respiration, Basic concept of respiratory diseases and Pharmacological actions on respiratory system according to Ayurveda as well as modern system of medicine.
