Dr. Aniruddha Mukhopadhyay did his M.Sc. in Zoology in the year 1986 from University of Calcutta. He was awarded D.N.Roychaudhuri Gold medal for his top rank to M.Sc.(Entomology special paper) final examination. He qualified in UGC (NET) in 1986 and joined as a research scholar in the Zoology Department of University of Calcutta. He did his M.Phil in Environmental Science from Calcutta University in 1988. He did his Ph.D in the year 1991. Meanwhile in 1990 he was selected as an Assistant Conservator of Forest, Class-I Gazzetted officer - but he did not joinb. He has postdoctoral research experience in USA. He is teaching since 1992 both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Currently he is a faculty member of the Department of Envronmental Science, University of Calcutta. He has actively participated in several national and international seminars. He has several research publications and actively engaged in several research projects.

The publication of the book Perspectives In Environmental Health: Vector & Water Borne Diseases brings forth a concise collection of different health problems faced in our communities together with suitable practices to protect the common public; thereby allowing a deep sense of awareness about our environment, to grow within us.

The agents of transmission referred to as "vectors" play a significant role in dissemination of a wide variety of infections. The disease burden from spread of malarial parasites is a staggering one and warrants active and effective control measures to protect the susceptible population across our country. It is of utmost importance to educate our countrymen and this book presents a very useful collection of facts that should arouse any reader to "believe" that the time is ripe now to harness our resources to effectively combat vector borne inflections in the environment, leading to safer habitats which could save our children and youth who constitute the future "wealth" of our country.
