Life often comes across as a kaleidoscope where different elements conflate to create a labyrinth of memories and experiences. Of these, many fade away as obscure events; others remain etched in our very souls. Pangs of Life are a cornucopia of moments lived and relived by the poet, Williams NKURUNZIZA. With each twist and turn to a kaleidoscope, various patterns emerge. Some of these, we just pass by, others make us take a pause, and look more closely. In this collection, the perspicacious poet captures heart wrenching catastrophe of the Rwandan Genocide, mindless violence and the inconsolable grief it left in its wake. He also with equal panache pens down the resplendent moments of joy, triumphs, everlasting hope, betrayals and longings in an eloquent repertoire. Presented in seven sections, the Pangs of Life reveals the poet's journey through life and its fugacious blossoms in this deeply moving ensemble.
