Nyaya Sastra is one of the six systems of Hindu Philosophy (Hindu Asthiga Darasnas). It is called as “Tarka Sastra” or “Anvikshiki”. This system of Philosophy determines the fact logically. The ultimate goal of this system is to attain Moksha, the eternal bliss of God. The same principle is being adopted in “Vaisesika Darsana” also. Hence Nyaya and Vaisesika are considered as equal in the Indian Philosophy.
Many poets have written on the Nyaya Vaisesika Darsanas. One among them is Jayarama - Nyaya - Pancanana. He lived in Bengal during 17th century. He has written 34 works in his life time. One among them is ‘Padarthamala’.
One of his disciples has written a commentary under the name ‘Padarthamala Prakasa’. He has mentioned his name as ‘Lovkakshi Bhaskara ‘. This book ‘Padarthamala’ is now published with the commentary for the benefit of readers and scholars.
We have to congratulate the Sanskrit Pandits in charge of edition and all members of the staff of this Library for bringing out this work in a lucid manner. It becomes our duty to thank the Government of India for their generous grant for publication.
