Dr. S.D.Subba Reddy, M.A., PGDTE, Ph.D, is an academician who served in Andhra Pradesh from 1972-2004 and retired as Principal, Government PG College, Khairathabad, Hyderabad. He represented various teacher organizations at the State and Central Government in his career and played a crucial role in securing better service conditions for teachers at all levels. He was the Executive Council Member of Osmania University in 1994. He obtained his Ph.D. from KAKATIYA UNIVERSITY, Warangal. The Government of Andhra Pradesh Awarded him The Best teacher in 2002 for his professional competence. He published a good number of articles and books on education. 1. In classical antiquity, religion broadly meant conscientiousness, a sense of right, moral obligations, or duty to anything, as viewed by Cicero. To this were added certain details of chronicles and individuals' deified personalities and rituals, which ended up as institutionalized religions. Real thinkers treaded back from institutionalization to original cognizance of conscientiousness, righteousness, morality, dutifulness, compassion, love, forgiveness, and charity and stopped treating God as the owner of a pleasure dome where the entry is by socio-religious identity. Dr. Subba Reddy has actually treated this reverse path and captured the essentials of different religious paths leading to the ultimate liberation from physicality. Following in the footsteps of Durkheim of the French Sociological School, Dr. Subba Reddy affirms that the best principles of different religions should be assimilated to advance a harmonious social setup. Different countries and cultures viewed the same in diverse ways. Some, however, adopt an exclusive approach and say others will not get entry into Heaven. Rituals and places of pilgrimage, and denominational differences are also presented, which gives a comprehensive picture of different institutionalizations. Reflecting on the general Indian ethos, Dr. Reddy says that in India, religion and spirituality go hand in hand with general ethics giving us an inseparable trident of social cognizance. This is mirrored differently, though, in all South Asian faiths. Dr.Subba Reddy's assessment of Gandhiji's approach to religion and the commonality of different paths is of immense value. It will greatly help the youth if they adopt the eclectic approach suggested by Gandhiji.
