“I saw myself walking up a path towards a bare-bodied person... He had a white beard and his silver hair framed his face like the mane of a lion... he was looking back as if beckoning me to follow him."
A fun-loving child, Jyotii is a bright spark who absorbs deliberations on the Bhagavad Gita, recites mantras in Sanskrit, and performs yoga asanas with ease. Growing into a restless young woman, she tries her hand at just about everything from Crystals to Reiki to Magnified Healing to dancing around sacred fires in Shamanic rites. She's been there, done that. But, little does she know that a guided meditation technique which she is about to practise at a seminar, will show her a vision of the master who will propel her on a fast-track evolutionary path.
Initiated into Kriya Yoga by Gurunath, a disciple blessed by Mahavatar Shiv Gorakshanath Babaji, her spiritual awakening occurs in flashes of revelations about her past lives in various cultures, across several centuries. She is nurtured and gains strength from the radiant energy of an old tree; ancient masters and yogis appear to her by a lakeside, and her daily existence is filled with paranormal experiences.
Jyotii evolves not only as a spiritual seeker and a teacher of Hamsa Yoga but also as a more balanced human being who is able to meet, and help others meet, every adversity with courage, equanimity and grace.
| Along this roller-coaster ride that takes you through the cosmos, giving you glimpses of several realms of existence, one link remains intact and steadfast – the link that binds the true guru and the true disciple.
The book is a reminder of the ancient tradition of faithful integrity that every disciple has to the Master.
I wrote this book in spontaneity, as if pushed by some inner force; I had sat down in front of the PC, and with the soft blip of the screen, started writing. It was an exciting task, putting into words apparently bizarre experiences that could not be explained. Lifetimes of intellectual debate and discourse could not compare or compete with a millisecond of these factual experiences. The difference between knowing and realising... well, had to be realised. Faith then became the sum total of all my combined experiences, from this and many past lives. As in any other research field, this path too requires dedication and commitment while the master provides the 'inductive leap'.
I realise now that throughout my life, in all momentary happiness, I was really searching for this eternal joy, and in every adventure – the excitement of this search. The wellspring of which was always within, the master striking the spark to fire this lamp. Hamsa Dvij the twice-born, Sagura the Initiated, Khalsa the Pure; all these were just terms of no significance to me. It was only gradually that the potency and magnanimity of the initiation seeped into me. All humanity has the capability to discard this body of flesh to re-emerge in a body of light. In my case, it is the Himalayan master, Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath, who gave birth to this life, this light. He is the mother and the father who breathed new life into me. I see the umbilical cord connecting me to him and feel the nourishing, life-giving energy flowing through. This book is an offering to him who showed me the path and asked for nothing in return except steadfastness in practice.
