Ocean in a Drop is a stimulating book of discourses on Yoga, Meditation and Life by a great Himalayan ascetic. Having lived a dynamic life of solitary contemplation for more than two decades in a small hut atop Mount Shaivapuri of Himalayan hill ranges that surround the Kathmandu valley. Swami Chandresh for the first time comes forth to share jewels of his precious wisdom to the world outside. During his solitary stay in the Himalayas, Swamiji meditated upon a spiritual way of life integral to the fulfilment of human survival. The book is a startling account of the ideas that originated during his spiritual quest and a compilation of the experiences he shared with his disciples. Ranging from issues like Science in the light of religion, yoga and humanity, environment of Vedic seers, death and immortality and concentration of mind and humanity, Swamiji sheds light on a novel vision of life that shall energize even lay readers. Swamiji who also runs a high-school at Budhaneelkantha considers Western education only book-wise. "I believe in the triangular formula of education which involves metaphysics, vocation, and only lastly, information. An angle cannot occupy the space of happiness in human life. Only a triangle can. The final touchstone for me remains-Can an educated man ultimately make himself happy in his lifespan.
"Swami Chandresh's art, lifestyle and worldview challenge the stereotype that you might expect him to be. His art takes you to an aerial world in search of enlightenment...."
Swami Chandresh was born in Bengal. He is not only a renowned master of Yoga but also a poet, a musician, an educator and a painter. His life accentuated with renunciation and love for living beings has given vent to several philanthropic activities in India as well as Nepal. He believes in the universality and oneness of religion. He considers humanity to be the highest ideal of mankind.
If a human being would be able to see the entire earth from one end to the other merely with his physical eyes, standing upright at one place, or would be able to hear things from any distance with his ears, the life of mankind would certainly be different. Obviously, without any urge of visiting new places, life would be less dynamic and devoid of charm. In the case of hearing everything from any distance the botheration from noise would become severely aggravating and at the same time the dramatic episodes involving praise, blame, backbiting and so on that constantly take place on the stage of the world would have no meaning.
At any rate, we must admit that in comparison to the gigantic existence of the world, or for that matter, the entire universe, the capacity of the senses of an individual is extremely limited, undependable, as well as fallible. His eyesight does not reach very far even in its best condition and other senses too have the same short magnitude. On top of this, the ruthless senility imposes upon him further restriction and finally renders him utterly incapable of using his senses that are the basic instruments for communicating with the outer world. Apparently this is the situation and magnitude of human senses.
Nevertheless, with the help of these very senses empowered by the mind, intelligence and inspiration from some unknown background, man is aiming at unveiling the secrets behind the phenomenal existence. He has also become successful in the pursuit to a certain extent. Man is improving science and technology with the resolve to overcome the manifold difficulties imposed upon him by nature.
But the more he is trying to conquer nature, the more his ways are becoming complicated. The more he is determined to solve his problems, the more they are getting enigmatic and multiplying in intricate ways, alarming at times, his very existence. For example, dur-ing the last thirty-five years or so, huge quantities of money have been invested to control the population of the world. Various devices to materialize the purpose have been discovered and propagated from village to village and house to house, yet the present population of the world amazingly counts more than seven billion. In India during the last forty years, the population has increased by five hundred million. It seems that the souls that are destined to descend to the terrestrial plane from that of the astral cannot be checked even as the flow of a river can never be blocked. If in one part of the world people become severely stern in controlling population, in some other part the self-same controlled amount of people must emerge and fulfill the predestined number. For the sum total must always be the same according to the theory of conservation. Again, in one way if we are trying to control the population, in another way we are adopting various measures to eradicate diseases and increase the life-span of average human beings by pre-venting untimely death.
