We are glad to publish Nyayamrtam with Advaita Siddhi and six other commentaries. Nyayamrtam of Sri Vyasatirtha is a large work and so are its commentaries. Consequently, these have to be published in more than one volume. A small portion of this work with commentaries was edited and published by Mahamahopadhyaya Ananta Krishna Shastry in the Calcutta University series in 1934. A reprint of this published in 1984 with assistance from the Government of India also contains only that small portion.
Both the modern Research Scholars and the Traditional Scholars feel the need for these works in their entirety. The Nyayamrtam and Advaitasiddhi set a new wave of Dvaita Advaita dallectics and every generation saw a new commentary on these works. The traditional scholars study them with the help of manuscripts and publications to the extent available, even if they cover only a portion of these works. They also conduct traditional type of debates on the issues raised in these works. However, a consolidated edition of these works with the critical apparatus of a detailed introduction, subject index, appendices details of the other works, the names of authors consulted and the cross references to other Sastras like Mimamsa and Vyakarana has not been published so far. This is now undertaken here.
Sri Vyasatirtha, the author of Nyayamrtam during 1460-1539 A.D. Madhusudana Saraswati, the author of Advaita Siddhi and the two early commentators viz., Vyasa Ramachaya and Ananda Bhattaraka Pandurangi were the younger contemporaries of Sri Vyasatirtha. These were the pioneers of the Dvaita Advaita dialectics enshrined in these works. The debate on these issues continues even to-day. Some modern Research Scholars like K. Narain of Allahabad University and Dr. B.N.K. Sharma, the well known Dvaita Vedanta Scholar, are also probing into these with a modern perspective. This fresh initiative needs a critical edition of these works with research apparatus. Such an edition will enable more and more modern scholars both Indian and some foreign to conduct research in the philosophical Issues raised in these works. The issues discussed in these works are very vital issues of Vedanta Philosophy. The Dvaita Vedanta Foundation has already published in three volumes. The full work contains three chapter and covers a hundred topics.
