Agrarian structure in Haryana is rapidly changing under the force of production growth, urbanisation and technological developments, specially in the field of agriculture. Based on field study of four villages of which two villages as agricul turally developed and two as less devel oped district of Haryana. The book intends to explore the changing nature of agro- technology and the changing socio political structure of the rural society. The book deals with the successful use of agro-technology which resulted in the emergence of the green revolution and the consequent socio-economic changes in the agrarian social structure in 1990's in the post green revolution era in the rural society. The book also emphasises on the nature of new agriculture technology and environment degradation, Government strategies and policies for rural poverty alleviation. The book presents the empirical dimensions of traditional agrarian society.
Dr. Desraj Sabarwal is working as a Lecturer, Deptt. of Sociology, M.D. University, Rohtak since 1993. After his post graduation and M. Phil. from M.D. University, Rohtak, he earned his Doctorate from the same University. Dr. Sabarwal is guiding research students at M.Phil and doctorate level. His area of specialization is the research in sociology of peasentry and sociology of weaker section. He is engaged in research on above them and has published papers in Journals and books.
