About the Book This book is a rationalist attempt to resolve the conflict between evil and a meaning and purpose to the Universe. It examines the scientific evidence, and with deduction, logic, and sound reasoning, it sets forth a revolutionary concept of the nature of God. As Sherlock Holmes once said: "..when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." God is not on trial! The book neither defends God nor prosecutes him; the reader is not the jury. In the end each thinking person, after thoughtful reading of the book, must examine the evidence as presented, and draw his or her own conclusions on all of the issues that are discussed: Does God have all knowledge? Did God have emotion? Do we have free will-or just a decision-making capability? Does all evil stem from 'predator eats prey'-but did this also give rise to the very first emotion in organisms-fear? Is compassion the highest morality? Is life a work in progress? When compassion becomes instinctive will evil disappear? When it all ends is resurrection scientifically possible? Because it is the answers to all of these questions that truly determine the nature of God.

About the Author Bezaleel Solomon Benjamin (Dandekar) was born in Anand, Gujarat, India, in 1938, the fourth of five children to a Bene-Israel (Indian-Jewish) couple. He passed his SSC, in 1951, at the age of thirteen, with a First Class, from Rosary High School in Baroda, where his father was serving as Collector at the time. Then he graduated from Elphinstone College and the VJTI, in Bombay, he did his post graduate work in Structural Engineering in England both his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees are from the University of London. He taught for about 5 years at the Hatfield Polytechnic (now the University of Hertfordshire), in England, before immigrating to the United States, in 1971. After teaching for 39 years at the University of Kansas, Dandekar retired in 2010. He now lives in Southern California with his wife of 51 years, Nora (nee David) of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. They have two children and four grandchildren.

Dandekar is the author of 5 technical books and 9 works of fiction (espionage\mystery thrillers, romance novels, a historical novel, a collection of short stories, and a children's book). His espionage thriller\romance novel, Rampaging Lovers, the first in a trilogy, will be published by Arena Books, England, in the spring of 2014. He has written only one nonfiction, philosophy book, published by Gyan Publishing House, New Delhi, India-and you are holding it in your hand!

Preface This book is a conversation between you and me. Yes, you who are turning it over in your hand in a bookstore, wondering whether it is worth buying, or, perhaps, looking at it on a bookshelf in your local library, wondering whether you ought to waste your time reading it, or, perhaps, buying it at the annual library sale, wondering whether it will fit into the $1 grocery bag, if you case it in. I don't know who you are; male or female, old or young, blue collar or white collar or no collar. You don't know who I am. It does not matter. Because, what interests us both is the search for the truth about the last great mystery of our time the nature of God.

We you and 1-are sitting at a small, round table in an open air café, sharing a glass of wine-or beer, or tea, or coffee, for you if you wish. But the sidewalk café is really an open air courtroom at the center of the universe. Our court of inquiry is open to all. Every discipline that has evidence to offer will be. welcome to stand before us and tell us-in simple language their telling stories.
