Book Description
Preface
In the process of sharing the invaluable writings of Dr. V. Raghavan, the Centre is happy to bring out on the occasion of his 113th Birth Anniversary (22nd August), his Introduction and Notes in English to the Sanskrit text of Natakalaksauaratnakos'a (NLRK), a 13th century treatise on the Hindu Theatre.

This Sanskrit work was first edited and published by Prof. Myles Dillon, in 1937.

Dr. Raghavan worked on the second edition (1960) of the Sanskrit text of the treatise and also provided his introduction and exhaustive notes in English ; while immensely acknowledging Dr. Raghavan, Prof. Myles Dillon says in his Preface, "the introduction and notes are the work of Prof. Raghavan alone, and supply a great measure of learning that was beyond the resources of Prof. Fowler and myself'.

This compact, rich account of the treatise accurately introduced, along with notes, necessary corrections and emendations, and executed to perfection by Dr. Raghavan, will provide a treasure of information to those working in the field of Theatre as well as to students and researchers of Natya.

May the divine grace of Sri Tyagessa of Tiruvarur continue to guide the fruitful activities of our Centre towards propagation of Sanskrit, Music, Dance, Theatre and allied fields.
