It is almost impossible to convey in a single-volume biography the full extent of a human being's life and work. This biography surveys N. Sri Ram's uniqueness from his early days growing up in India, his education and his becoming a committed and dedicated member of the Theosophical Society. He had a close association with Annie Besant, the second International President of the Society, serving as her private secretary, and also helping her with her concern for the welfare and freedom of India. All this prepared him for the highest office of the Society: the Presidency. How can one sum up the attributes of a human being who is admired, loved and revered but no longer with us? The effects of his life live on; they are still alive today - foremost his loving kindness, spiritual wisdom and gentleness of strength in leading a worldwide body of seekers of the Truth.
In Sri Ram's writings, books and talks, these qualities, the basis of his life's philosophy, were expressed with sensitivity, beauty and conviction, portraying the eternal verities which will continue to inspire readers and students of Theosophy.
No human being exists in isolation, everyone is influenced by and in turn influences the surroundings and fellow beings of the time. Brother Sri Ram in all his humility was helper and friend To all and a servant of the Ageless Wisdom.
His biographer, Pedro Oliveira, has diligently collected a rich kaleidoscope of details and facts concerning Sri Ram’s life and work, which now and for generations to come will prove a source of human interest and will serve as a valuable history.
As a member of the Theosophical Society I am privileged and grateful to have known Brother Sri Ram.
