The book in hand is a compilation of articles written and published over a decade in various journals such as Vedanta Kesari (Chennai), Prabhuddha Bharata (Kolkata), Sri Aurobindo's Action (Puducherry), Education of Yoga (Hubbali) and Sapthagiri (TTD, Tirupati). In articles included such as Yogic Texts: A Comparative Reading, Technology of Brain, Mind, and Consciousness, Patanjali and Sri Aurobindo, Evolution: Darwin, Sufism, Sri Aurobindo,Yoga, Theory and Practice of Eco Yoga, and Patanjali and Quantum Physics Raghupathi has provided a new insight and direction, looking at Yoga more scientifically than as a mere dogma.
The book is an addition to the copious literature of commentary and interpretation available on Yoga. He is confident that the book will strengthen the belief and faith of the readers in general and sadhakas in particular. Each article included will further widen their understanding of Yoga, and their faith in recognizing it as a holistic science.
An ardent Sadhaka, K. V. Raghupathi, has more than three and a half decades of uninterrupted enviable yogic sadhana, and has published numerous articles in various cultural journals such as Vedanta Kesari (Chennai), Prabhuddha Bharata (Kolkata), Sri Aurobindo:s Action (Puducherry), Education of Yoga (Hubbali) and Sapthagiri (TTD, Tirupati). Besides three books, Yoga for Peace (2006), Yoga and Zen: A Monograph (2007) and Theory and Practice of Hastha Yoga (2018), he has delivered many talks on Yoga philosophy and spirituality.
A PhD holder in English Literature, he is also a creative writer in English. He is a poet, short story writer, novelist, book reviewer and critic. An Indian author best known for his poetry in English language. His poetry is rooted in the abundance of philosophy, nature, transcendentalism, imagery and social perspectives, and replete with similes, metaphors, personifications, apostrophe, irony, climax. anti-climax and rhetoric and symbols. More often he takes the exploration of radical philosophical thoughts which strongly speak through all the collections.
After teaching at S.V. University, Tirupati for a decade and four and a half years at Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, he moved to Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur where he has been teaching in the Department of English Studies since 2011.
He began writing seriously in 1985. Over three decades of his writing career, he has published twenty-five books that include, eleven poetry collections, two novels, two short story collections, seven critical works and three books on Yoga. His other passions include classical Karnatic music and Yoga. His poems and short stories have appeared in various newspapers like The Hindu, The Statesman, print journals and online journals.
He is a recipient of several awards that include the Michael Madhusudhan Dutt Award, Kolkata in 2001, H.D. Thoreau Fellowship, Dhvanyaloka, Mysore in 2000, the best chosen poet for 2003, Poetry Society of India, New Delhi Poetry Chain, Mumbai, Lifetime Achievement Award, Chennai Poetry Circle, Chennai in 2010, and Rock Pebbles National Award for Creativity, 2014, Bhubaneswar; two awards in Yoga: the Best Yogic Research Publication Award, 2018 and Lifetime Achievement Award in Yoga.
