My Struggle for Self-Realization' is the autobiography of Swami Satchidananda Giri. Swamiji was the direct disciple of Sri Sri Paramhansa Yoganandaji, founder of Yogoda Satsanga Society of India and Self-Realization Fellowship.

Swamiji maintained diary meticulously since 1945. These diaries contained two types of writings- essays on a variety of themes of spiritual and social issues, incidences, and episodes with which Swamiji was directly associated. Narrations of these incidences are genuine. intense and very personal. Every episode provides glimpses of important spiritual experience. Each episode is a mile stone on the way to Swamiji's Self-realization; indeed, a vivid description of His Struggle for Self Realization'. Each episode is a beacon light for the meditating minds of his young disciples who have begun their inspired journey for understanding the self.

This book, hence, does not read like one of the many autobiographies. It is something unique, something that touches the deeper chords of our very being. We are grateful to Swamiji for sharing His wealth of spiritual experience with us through this book.

A few words of acknowledgement are due.

The entire manuscript was earlier composed and produced in book form, but only limited number of copies. Swami Krishnananda Giri of Paramahansa Yogananda Ashrama in Purulia gave the impetus for the full-scale publication of this autobiography; Swami Krishnandaji reviewed the entire manuscript and edited it meticulously. Swami Abhayananda Giri, a direct disciple of Swami Satchidananda Giri and his caregiver till the last moment provided good input to fill the gaps between 1969 and 2005 when Swamiji breathed his last.

Sri Soumen Panja computerized the handwritten manuscript-noting in diaries by Swami Satchidananda Giri; Sri Sabyasachi Panja produced the cover design. Sri D. Kumar of Shipra Publications graciously undertook the responsibility of printing, production and publication of this book.
