Gandhi's perception of each situation or issue is crystal clear and shown well through the letters. There is no illusion or dilemma. He had no doubt about what he was doing and what he was asking the people to do. His ideas are clearly expressed in the letters. Such open and clear minds are rare. Without any shred of doubt, Gandhi was rare figure.
"My Letters," including 'Gandhi Re-introduced, ' is illuminating and will enrich the inner core. The letters are relevant and essential because of the global instability and terrorism.
Gandhi was a weapon: a sharp double-edged; automatic and effective; rare and powerful; but non-violent weapon. A weapon that illumined the truth and wiped out falsehood and impurities. He was a soul who praised, enhanced and utilised the qualities of others; he added qualities and increased the value of existing qualities.
Gandhi usually remained quiet, kept others quiet and pacified. He loved and liked peace. Non-violence was his strength and non-cooperation was his favourite simple or difficult path.
Gandhi was a substitute to the desires and wishes of all others, but there was no substitute to Gandhi. There is no substitute to Gandhi even now.
One day, when I met Shri Rohit Kumar Gupta, Director Pustak Mahal, in his office, straightaway he offered me to collect and edit the letters of Mahatma Gandhi. With it he took off his right hand from his lap and I noticed "My Experiments With Truth" and also his index finger in the book. Obvious he was reading the book.
It was his contention that it would be a service to the general readers t make the important letters written by Mahatma Gandhi, available to them. It will give insight into the mind, personality, approach, attitude and planning of Bapu. His ideas and ideals can be put to better use by the people as they are relevant and essential for terror-stricken, unstable world.
Then, we discussed and finalised which letters, what type of letters an letters addressed to whom, are to be collected and compiled.
After a week started the book-fair and he bought many needed books for me. Yet, I had to consult "Complete Works of Mahatma Gandhi "from where all these letters are taken.
The letters included in "My Letters" show the true self of the Mahatma his pragmatic ways and spiritual strength. It is better to read the letter and understand his philosophy. There is no need to imitate him but on must follow him, imbibe and make his ideas, ideals and qualities own guide and try intelligently and diligently to make the mother earth a better and peaceful place for all beings. With this open intention "My Letters" is no, in the hands of readers.
At the most needed places a has been used for longer 'a' sound.
