Deccan Archaeological and Cultural Research Institute. Hyderabad was set up on the 2009 with a view to assisting and coordinating the development of Indian Archaeology and Culture. The institute was charged with the responsibility of Serving, as a nucleus to bring together all the research and literally output from the various, linguistic streams to a common head and narrowing the gap between basic rest arch and development research in the above field. The institute is thus engaged in research and teaching which lead to the publication of a wide-ranging variety of material. Preparation of materials designed for teaching learning at different levels and suited to specific needs is one of-the major areas of interest of the Institute.

Basic research relating to the acquisition of archaeology and stud of culture in its manifold psychosocial relations constitute another broad range of its interest. The publication include materials, produced by the members of the staff. Research Scholars and Directors. The institute is proud of its association with scholars in their intellectual exploration of uncharted field of knowledge If this monograph fill a gap in the existing hooks seen and is found useful the effort of this Institute would have been amply rewarded. From popular literature to folklore the discipline has made tremendous strides. It is an irony that as folk materials are permitted to die out folklore studies and institution, multiply then in the study of folklore Indian data is tested against western models and institution insights based on indigenous experience are not developed. Beginning from folklore and folk life and introduction through growth of folklore theories. folklore and field work. the problem of meaning in folklore and growth of Indian folklore studies this hand book trice to combine both theoretical and methodological perspectives. I hope that the book would be valuable to all researchers in the field.

Bhujang R. Bobade (Born 1982) from last Nine years, Bobade is in the consulting world to take the helm in Archival and Museum field at a time of crisis and change. He went through a dramatic turnaround. He started bootstrapping growth. Now, he is on the doorstep of a major expansion. It's exciting and tiring and rewarding as ever building a rigorous strategic framework under his creative, community-based work. In his all last years, it was all about getting the programming moving, experimenting, and exploring the possibilities with a spreading historical research in our community- History for Society Research. He is also working on different historical and educational Museums committees.

Dr. Omshiva Ligade (Born 1968) is an eminent Indian historian of medieval and Modem India, following the approach of Cultural historiography. He has a great experience of Under Graduate and Post Graduate teaching also. He is well known for his strong stance about Numismatic and research orientation work. He has authored a number of books, including Syllabus books chapters. He is head of History Dept., Shivjagruti Mahavidhyalaya, Nalegaon Dist. Latur from last 14 years. He was Chairman of State and National conferences, workshops about History and Gandhian thoughts. He is executive editor of different National and international research journals. He is said to be the first historian to use inscriptions and pictorial sources for the teaching of history which is what current days students of history do. He is said to be a pioneer in throwing light on judicial system in late medieval period.

The present monograph Introduction to Museums, Archaeology and Culture is the result of the work primarily done by both of us during 2009-10 for DACRI, Hyderabad. In this work more emphasis has been laid on the development of the various scripts since there are few works on this topic readily available to the readers. Further, in presenting the epigraphic materials in the following pages, the interests of the common readers as well as of the post-graduate students and research scholars have been kept in view. The present monograph is confined to the discussion on epigraphy, archaeology, museums, language and excludes folk culture from its purview.

I take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to K. Jitendrababu, Director, Deccan Archaeological and Cultural Research Institute, Hyderabad, for not only getting me the guidance in the Institute but also for taking keen and personal interest in the preparation of this monograph till its completion. During the past two decades, folklore studies in India is moving in the direction of analysis. Folklore has gained respectability as a discipline on the university campus. Many institutions are busy with collection and analysis of folklore materials. Interdisciplinary approach to folklore studies is becoming a reality. Seminars, summer schools and workshops are becoming more frequent. The national and regional associations of folklore scholars seem to be more active now. All these are indicators of healthy growth of folklore studies as a discipline and the importance it has received in the country. I am also thankful to the other authorities of the Institute including the Librarian for affording the necessary facilities for my work.

Special gratitude's for my wife Usha and Karan for their nonstop supporting and love to me. Sometimes she feed me food when I was busy in writing. Karan is now become my shadow and as a good hand for me in future research work.
