A museum is a non-profit making permanent institution in the service of the society and its development, and open to the public which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits, for purpose of Studay, education and enjoyment, material evidence of people and their environment.
Bageshwar Jha was born on 1.2.1941 at village Kaorour (North), distt. Darbhanga, Bihar. He had his higher education in Patna and Bodh Gaya. Later he had diploma in journalism from Delhi. He joined Central Intelligence Bureau in 1963 and after an eventful career retired in Jan 2001 as an Assistant Director. For his meritorious service, he was awarded Indian Police Medal (IPM) and President's Police Medal (PPM) besides several other acco-lades. His literary talent was known since his school days. His reportages, poems and short stories started getting published since his college days. Though the Mithila Mihir (weekly) was his main platform, he also wrote in English and Hindi. The present book, "Museum Musings: Hail Heritage" is his second book in English. Since literature on museum and sanitation are not much, Jha's book may prove highly beneficial to the students and scholars of these field. It is expected that he will keep on sharpening his penmanship in future as well.
