Book Description
About The Book

This book of 100 quotes on Moods and Emotions empowers one to mitigate the bad effects of one's behaviour and inculcate in him/her the healthy emotional pursuits. Each quote is in tandem with a stimulating painting of Lord Ganesha, the Lord of Peace, Prosperity and Wisdom. Many wise men and women have worked on these wonderful concepts of behaviour and blessed the world with a number of thought-provoking and enlightening quotes for one to lead a cheerful and healthy life. The authors too join these great personalities with their own creations.

Mood is basically a psychological condition indicating one's positive or negative state of mind. Emotion, per se, is a complex psycho- physiological experience of an individual's state of mind and has its direct link with mood, temperament, personality, disposition and motivation. Emotions act as an effective component to motivation, which direct and energize one's behaviour. These quotes help the readers to manage their moods and emotions with a positive attitude.

Preface

Mood is a basic psychological state that can occur as a reaction to an event or can surface for no apparent external cause. Mood is an internal, subjective state, but it often can be interred from posture, facial expression and other behaviours. Mood can also be described as a mental state or quality of feeling at a particular time, a prevailing emotional surge or general attitude, a frame of mind evasive or receptive.

Mood generally is indicative of a positive or negative state of mind. Positive mood can be attributed to many different aspects of day- to-day life and has certain effects on people as a whole. Generally, positive mood has been found enhancing problem-solving ability and general flexibility. Like positive mood, negative mood also does have important implications for mental and physical well-being. Since there is no intentional objective that causes the negative mood, it has no specific time-frame. Negative moods can manipulate the way individuals interpret and translate the world around them, and can also direct their behaviour.

Emotion is a complex psycho-physiological experience of an individual's state of mind caused by interacting with biochemical (internal) and environmental (external) influences. Emotion is associated with mood, temperament, personality, disposition and motivation. Motivations direct and energize behaviour, while emotions provide the effective component to motivation, positive or negative. All humans have basic emotional needs. These needs can be expressed as feelings. The only real way to know that we are happy is when we feel happy. When we feel happy, we feel contented and fulfilled. This feeling comes from having our needs and desires met, particularly our emotional needs. We can be warm, wealthy and healthy, but still unhappy. Our emotions and our feelings let us know when we are unhappy and when something vital is missing or needed. The better we understand our emotions, the easier to determine what is really needed to be happy.

Our emotions put us alert on when natural human needs are not being met or when we feel uncomfortable for any reason. While all humans share almost the same needs, each individual differs in the intensity of the need.

Our emotions are a valuable source of information and help us to communicate and make decisions. Our feelings are also useful in helping us predict our own and others' behaviour. Emotions are universal.

This book contains 100 carefully chosen quotations on Moods and Emotions, created, modified and mixed. Some of the thoughts presented here are ours and the others are from the people who have stood by and worked for the values, some were famous and others were ordinary people. We have acknowledged the persons who have been quoted, wherever we could remember. Our sincere thanks to all these great personalities and eminent writers who have given such invaluable thoughts to this world. Any amendment/addition is most welcome from the readers.

Ganesha gives peace, prosperity and wisdom and, therefore, each of the quotes in this book has a painting of Lord Ganesha to inspire you. These paintings have been created by our professional artists keeping in mind the themes of individual quotes.

Inspiring ourselves with the fact that good thoughts can lead to changes in our habits, attitude and behaviour, and can help us improve our outlook of the world and thus change our lives, we have conceived the idea of this book. This kind of a book is like chewing each morsel well, while enjoying the good food and then digesting it before getting ready for the text meal.

We prostrate before our parents Smt Kanchan Devi and Shri Bhairav Lal Kogata, and Smt Kamla Devi Nuwal and the late Prof. K.M. Nuwal for their benign blessings that have helped us reach the present stage.

With the expectation of blessings and constructive feedback from all our readers.
