The medicines of modern system of treatment are too costly to be procured by one and all. The complexity of the so called system of effective cure has made our system more complex. As such the cry of the (present) crucial hour is to acquire a cheap but simple method of curing a disease. And colour therapy is a very simple, useful and harmless system of therapeutics, that can serve our need. The coloured rays of the sun are the store house of medicines in micro-form. These can be made available in the lap of nature without paying a lot for them.
In ancient times Indian mothers used to treat their ailing children themselves at home. But today that old and effective method of treatment has gone out of date. The same can be revived through colour therapy which is by far the cheapest, the mildest and the most effective of all the treatments of diseases now in vogue. The present treatise captioned "Miracles of Colour Therapy" will no doubt help those who believe in the natural way of treating a disease as its lasting benefit have been experienced and enjoyed by thousands since 1885, the year of Dr. J. P. Jha's initiation to this line, (the first chromopath of India).
The book has been designed so as to suit an expert and an apprentice as well. It has dealt in the basic but technical ideas by means numerous examples i.c., case- histories. The materiamedica of colours is so simple and lucid that every individual, who has interest in the science, can master it with a little effort and can see its wonderful and spectacular results as he proceeds on and on.
Born in 1945, Dr. S. P. Mishra, M.A., B. Ed., Ph. D. (Utkal), obtained a diploma in Naturopathy in 1985. He also did a refresher course in 'Colour Therapy' in the same year at New Delhi under the able guidance of Dr. D. N. Narang, N. D. (London). He was a close associate and favourable disciple of Dr. Narang. His oriya rendering of Dr. Narang's book "Chromopathy" in Hindi was first published in 1987 and its second edition came to light in 1992. The book has popularised Dr. Mishra in the nook and corner of Orissa as thousands of patients are being benefitted by the simple and harmless method of colour treatment.
Dr. Mishra is a senior teacher in the Education Department under SAIL. RSP, Rourkela since 1971. He is a prolific writer in Oriya and has authored a series of books on Mantra, Yantra, Tantra, Yoga and Colour Therapy.
Since 1985 he has taken up colour therapy as a hobby and social service as well. He is rendering medical aid to the out patients through regular correspondence.
The system of building health with the help of Sun or its different rays is known as Heliotherapy or Solartherapy or Chromopathy or Colour therapy. Chromopathy teaches how to use colours of the Sunlight for prevention, treatment and cure of ailments. It includes all phases of treatment into which the employment of colour enters. The visible or invisible colour-rays can be applied to change or maintain vibration of the body to that frequency which signifies health, case and harmony. As such colour therapy is a drugless system of treatment and an important branch of Naturopathy.
The history of treatment of diseases by direct Sunlight (Heliotherapy) is as old as human civilization itself. However there was a long hiatus between the ancient method of treatment and the modern one. In A. D. 1611 Dominis announced: "Colour arises out of light; and they are the light itself". But in A. D. 1666 Newton published his theory that ordinary white light of the Sun comprises different colours such as Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red having different refractive index. Hemolz advanced a step forward when he declared that each colour of the spectrum is framed by it's independent law of vibrations. However, the concept that "all the colours exist already in Solar light and can be separated from one another through refraction"-persists in the text books to our day. To sum up Newton's theory of colour we may say, "colours is split up light, molecules in motion, vibrations of varying speeds ranging from thousands of wavelengths per second, to billions and trillions, in the so called ether".
But Goethe was ahead of his time in discovering his idea of colours created by lightening and darkening. He knew, from inner awareness, that the colours had a spiritual significance which was being overlooked. His view of colours was only one of the many scientific concepts in which Goethe in the nineteenth century was a forerunner of Rudolf Steiner's spiritual science in the twentieth.
According to Dr. Rudolf Steiner colours are of two kinds - lustre and image or the radiant active colours, and the colours that are not active in themselves but hold a given form. Thus Red, Blue and Yellow are active lustre-colours; green, peach-blossom, white and black are image colours.
