The year 2009 marked the organization of the 4-day Conference on Mind Mystery at Sri Kailash Ashrama Mahasamsthana. It was the brainchild of His Holiness Mahamandaleshwar Jagadguru Sri Jayendra Puri Mahaswamiji. Keeping in view the Endeavour of every human being to soar towards perfection at the earliest and in the process discover the aides and deterrents on this adventurous journey, there is no doubt that one has to know one's mind, nay, one has to mind the mind.
Minding the mind is knowing the mind. All endeavors are preceded by knowledge of the endeavored goal. The goal being a peaceful individual life with harmonious coexistence, it is necessary for us to know the mind in the traditional method of the Bharatiya culture, i.e., janitor (one comes to know), icchati (one aspires), prayatate (one endeavors), it is in this context that the Conference 'Mind Mystery' was arranged. Stalwarts in the field, Padmashree Dr. R. M. Varma, Dr. Shyam Bhat, Padmashree Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Dr. C.R. Chandrasekhar and Padmavibhushan Yogacharya Dr. B.K.S. Iyengar, expounded the topic with inimitable dexterity, which was ultimately crowned by the benedictory address and Divine Discourse (asirvacana) by His Holiness Mahamandaleshwar Jagadguru Sri Jayendra Puri Mahaswamiji on the final day on the unprecedented topic - THE FUNDAMENTAL MIND. It was obvious that this tsunami will have a reverberating echo even in the future. This led, therefore, to the Conference 'Mind Management - Mend your Mind', which was held from the 26th of October to the 29th of October, 2016. History repeated itself. The sailkalpa of Mahaswamiji fructified with the inauguration of the Conference by His Holiness Sri Brahmamanandaji, President, Chinmaya Mission, followed by the scintillating and scholarly expositions by veterans Dr. Ramaswamy Iyengar, Dr. B.M. Hegde, Dr. Shyam Bhat, and ably complemented by the right-brain motherly touch of Smt. Vani Vasudev. The all-too adult monotony was tenderly pierced through with the energetic comparing by teenagers of Sri Jnanakshi Vidyaniketan School, Sandhya K, Viswaja M. Upendra, Pranav Nand S. Pranav Kumar, and the apt and vivacious introduction rendered by Smt. Uma Raghuram. Just as traditional worshipful offerings to every deity in Bharat ends with mahamangalarati, the waving of varied lamps, and camphor vanishing into thin air without leaving any traces of the 'I', so also Mahaswamiji concluded the Conference with the merging of the individual 'I' into the cosmic 'WE', removing 'illness' and bringing 'well ness' . Come, readers, let us now sail on the waters of the psyche and reach our destination of paramananda.
