Internationally famed Prof. B.P.T. Vagish Shastri (Born 24th July, 1934) is an eminent linguist, grammarian of Sanskrit Language, an spiritual teacher of Para Vidya. He is wel-versed in comparative linguistics and comparative grammar. Prof. Shastri originally is a traditional Pandit of Paninian grammar. He taught many years Paninian Dr. Vagish Shastri grammar, Vedic and Sanskrit literature in a Sanskrit college and Sampurnanand Sanskrit. University, Varanasi. He began to write from 1954 and published in many different journals. He was appointed as a lecturer in Teekamani Sanskrit College, Varanasi (1959-1964), Publication officer Ph.D. (1964), Senior Research fellow (UGC) 1964-1967; Research assistant Director (1968); D.Litt. (1969); Director & Professor, Research Institute, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi (1970-1996). Now he is founder Director, Vagyoga Chetanapitham, Varanasi.
Near about 50 original books on Grammar, Linguistics, Sanskrit and Hindi literature, Yoga-Tantra, History and Puranas have been written in Sanskrit, Hindi and English languages. Three hundred Manuscripts edited and two hundred research papers published in many different journals. He has guided many Research Scholars of India and abroad, started P.G. Research & editing course and edited a quarterly journal for 27 years in Research Institute, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi. He had been convenor, Research Degree Committees of all departments and a member of Executive and Academic councils 27 years. Ph.D. degree was awarded to a Research Scholar on his Sanskrit work by Indore University 2003. His teaching and writing are continued still.
