The history of herbal medicines is as old as human civilization. According to WHO, 80 percent of the population depends on the traditional herbal medicine, because of their great efficiency and no side effects.
World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that about 21000 plants species are useful in the preparation of medicines. The synthetic medicines, cosmetics and health supplements also usage the herbal products.
Various medicinal plants are cultivated and domesticated in India. So, the International trade is looking medicinal plants from India.
The present book "MEDICINAL PLANTS AND THEIR VALUES" covering the whole information on medicinal plants, their usage and their values with special reference to the Indian scenario. The book also covers utilization and development of drugs from medicinal plants.
Born 1955 M.Sc. (Zoology), Ph.D., F.Z.S.I., F.H.S.I. began his career as a Lecturer in Ranchi University, Ranchi (Jharkhand) in 1979, where he become Head of the Department and Reader. He was appointed as Principal by Service Commission in Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, Jharkhand.
Dr. Verma obtained Ph.D. degree from Patna University, Patna, under Teacher Fellowship of University Grants Commission. He has published more than 55 research papers in different Journals of repute. He has already published three books in his subject.
At present Dr. Verma is the Principal of P.K. Roy Memorial College, Dhanbad, the premier Institution affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. He is also attached with NAAC, Bangalore as Assessor.
I have tried my best to organize this book "MEDICINAL PLANTS AND THEIR VALUES "for everyone who interested in the world of plants and their medicinal uses. The book will also help in research and development activities in new herbal products. Most important medicinal plants of India and different parts of the world, has discussed in this book.
It is necessary to mention here that many of the plants are poisonous, so it is not advisable for self medication with the plants and their products.
