Book Description
About the Book

The aim of this research is to enumerate, to reinstate the importance of ethics (against self-drawn morals) and approach the Western Ethical Turn through Indian Ethics. It also brings in the praxis by exploring the mode of their dispersal via medium of tales. The project moves further as it looks at the popular and influential area of management (corporate) where the impact is largely felt. The "management" here intends to be all-inclusive spanning from deep self to the external world of systems and organisations. All-inclusive approach attracts readers from various walks of life - general readers to the academicians belonging to the different faculties - Literature and Languages, Education, Philosophy and Management among others. This book would be a subject of interest for a parent, a teacher or any citizen of the world who aims to lead a meaningful life and inspire the younger generation to add value to their stay on this earth.

Acknowledgement

I am grateful to the hidden power that lies in all of us, which upon getting awakened can make us do wonders. I bow to the immanence that empowers each one to dream and realize it. The people who surround us are an inspiration they refrain from acknowledging our ability as well as safeguard our potential. Both work in unraveling our true self. In fact, the latter proves to be more beneficial. Let me do the job seriously I thank my mother who has been a consistent source of encouragement to complete any task I take up; a continuous support who scaffolded my vision and the efforts. My family silently gave me enough time and space to work. I am grateful to the authorities of Panjab University for sanctioning me the study leave, which gave me ample freedom to work on my own without any constraint. I would also like to acknowledge the wisdom of the reader who has a similar inclination to pick up this piece of research.

Preface

The book is a cross-fertilisation between English literary theory and philosophy with the integration of narratives and management principles. The Western theory has been rigid and narrow in the objectives it perceived for the workplace which were speciously different and exclusively laid. The Orient has been inclusive as it catered to the essential subjectivity in which the diversity was clearly absorbed. This book endeavours to broaden the "space" that the West isolated for the workplace, where the warriors vary from investors through employers, employees, vendors and competitors to the customers, to every individual's life. The scope widens to include life itself where every individual is in ran-bhumi (place of living, struggle and battles) and the emphasis is on the belief that if he has the prudence to lead his life then the workplace is one of the many spaces where he performs. Though I am a nascent scholar of Sanskrit, I am enchanted by the power of pithy idioms and couplets. The usage of Sanskrit words and borrowed verses in this book is to emphasise and showcase the of wisdom in the ancient texts. Besides upholding the rhythm and music often inherent in them, they are fundamental to any captivating influence (affective angel). The usage of words 'Hindu', 'Hinduism' is in the larger context of Indian thought system (darśanas) and is not in a limited religious sense.
