Dr A.L. Blackwood graduated from Hahnemann Medical College, Chicago, in 1888. He was Professor of General Medicine and Senior Professor of Physiology in the Hahnemann Medical College, Chicago, and Attending Physician to the Hahnemann Hospital, Chicago. Dr. Blackwood was a member of the American Institute of Homeopathy and Illinois state homeopathic. society.
