Collected: Prof. A. Haridasa Bhat Translator: Prof. L. Jaya Rao
Food, sleep and sexual activity are there for animals and human beings also. It is impossible to get rid of them. In order to become good and noble, one need not leave them. The animals without observing any ethical or moral value eat the food and live. When a discipline or orderliness is added to the way of living, we can become harmless and gentle. Dharma means, the observance of justice and morale in our day-to-day life. Then only we become human beings. Today man has denounced the Dharma and progressing towards the negative evolution to prove that Darwin’s theory is topsy-turvy.
We have delivered discourses on Srimad Bhagavadgita in our Chaturmasya Vrata at Bangalore in 2002. These thoughts were collected and presented in Kannada by Prof. A. Haridasa Bhat, Principal, Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha and published by Chaturmasya Seva Samiti, Bangalore. Devotees were very much pleased with our presentation and were asking for republication of this edition. Now the Poornaprajna Samshodhana Mandiram has published this text with English translation rendered by Prof. L. Jaya Rao, a good writer in English and our close devotee. Sri Chintalavadi Rama Murthy has also seen the proof and rendered his service. It is needless to say that the present edition will bring new light to the English media readers of the Nation and abroad. I pray Lord Sri Krishna to bless the authorities of the Poornaprajna Samshodhana Mandiram and Sri Haridasa Bhat, Prof. L. Jaya Rao and Sri Chintalavadi Rama Murthy for their valuable service to the spiritual world.
I am proud to submit “Mantrakshate” of H.H. Sri Vishveshatirtha Swamiji of Sri Pejavara Matha, to English readers of the Nation and abroad. H.H. Swamiji delivered lectures on Srimad Bhagavadgita in 2002 in Chaturmasya Vrata Deeksha. These thoughts were presented in Kannada by Prof. A. Haridasa Bhat, Principal, Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha, in attractive style. Kannada readers have very much appriciated the effort. Devotees of Sri Swamiji have requested me to publish the work with English translation. I approached Prof. L. Jayara Rao and he has translated the work in lucid style. Sri Chintalavadi Ramamurthy has seen the proof and given valuable suggestions in this publication.
I express my gratitude to both Prof. L. Jaya Rao and Sri Chintalavadi Ramamurthy for rendering valuable service to the Poornaprajna Samshodhana Mandiram. I hope Kannada and English readers will be benefited by this “Mantrakshate” of H.H. Swamiji.
We also express our thanks to Prof: Radhavallabha Tripathi, Vice-chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. New Delhi, for giving all support in our academic activities.
Prof. D. Prahladachar, Chairman of Poornaprajna Samshodhana Mandiram, is the guiding force of our academic activities and I express my gratitude for his valuable guidance in the progress of the institution.
