The author of Manisara is Gopinath Thakkura, the son of Maithila Thakkura Mahamahopadhyaya Bhavanatha of the Goghota family. By faith Gopinatha was a Vaisnava of the Vrindavana School. Gopinath Thakkura is known for his two work in Nyaya; Manisara is one of them. His other work is a commentary called Tarkabhasa Bhavaprakasika; it is on Keshava Mishra's Tarka Bhasa.
Gopinatha's time is later than gaurikanta who refers to him in his bhavarthadipika.he may have, therefore, in the 16th century.
He had studied Nyaya, Vedanta and Samkhya literature in the traditional style under various gurus like Brahmhasri Ramachandrula Koteshwara Sharma, Prof. Pradyot Kumar Mukhopadhyay and Prof. Sudhanshu Shekhar Shastri. He was graduated from the Faculty of Sanskrit Vidya Dharam Vignana, BHU. He did his research/Ph.D. under the able guidance of Prof. Vishnupoty, the Vice Chancellor of SCSVM University and an eminent scholar of many different Darsanas.
Dr. G Jayamanikya Shastri is a recipient of gold medal from Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (former President of India) for standing first in the Shastri Examination of BHU 2005. He also received Gold medal from Dr. Manmohan Singh, (former Prime Minister of India) for standing First in the Acharya Examination of BHU 2007.
Dr. Shastri received Yuvavidwan award of Akhila Bhartiya Kashi Vidwat Parishad from Dr. Aarif Khan, Governor of Kerala. Dr. Shastri published many books including Hindi commentary on Tarkamrutam, Bangal Krodapatrika, Hindi commentary on Karikavali. Dr Shastri has completed Minor Research Project of Indian theory of rational debate funded by SCSVMV University.
At present Dr. Shastri is working in the Department of Nyayadarsan at Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University, Shrivihar, Puri in Odisha. Now 4 scholars are pursuing Ph.D under his guidance and his 26students have already got their M.Phil.
