LITTLE MORE THAN five thousand years ago, Lord Krishna the Supreme Personality of Godhead, descended to earth in His original spiritual form and displayed His transcendental pastimes with His associates. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Who was born in Sri Mayapur, Nadia, West Bengal, more than 500 year ago, wanted His devotees to propagate Krishna Katha. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the Supreme Lord Himself playing the role of the Supreme Lord's devotee; no one, therefore, can be greater than Him. With His chief associates - Nityananda, Advaita, Gadadhara and Srivasa-He taught how to develop love of Godhead simply by chanting Hare Krishna and dancing in ecstasy.

There are five types of Krishna Kathas. The first one is the narrations spoken about Sri Krishna and the second is the narrations spoken by Sri Krishna Himself. Srimand Bhagavatham, the science of God is the narration about the activities of Sri Krishna and the Bhagavad Gita, the science of god, is the narration of the philosophy on the science of god spoken by Lord Sri Krishna Himself. Srimad Bhagavatam contents of 18000 verses presented in 12 cantos and in it the tenth canto is wholly devoted to the life of Lord Sri Krishna. The Bhagavad Gita is the essence of Vedas and it consists of 700 verses presented in eighteen chapters.

The plenary portion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna is Lord Maha Vishnu, a Purusha Form and He is the original cause of material creation. He is known as Karanodakasayi Vishnu as He lied on the Karana (causal) ocean. He creates innumerable Universes. There are two other Purushas Forms known as Garbhodakasayi Vishnu and Kshirodakasayi Vishnu. Garbhodakasayi Vishnu is in-charge of each universe. From His naval had sprung the stem of the Lotus flower, the birthplace of Brahma. Kshirodakasayi Vishnu resides in Khirasagara, ocean of Milk. It is the through Him all the incarnations with in Universe appear. This Vishnu, Brahma and Siva are expansions of Garbhodakasayi Vishnu. Brahma is empowered with the potency for creation and hence he is the creator, Vishnu is the protector and Siva is the destroyer.
