Introduction

Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of beauty, was jealous of many.

One such woman who made her jealous was Myrrah. Aphrodite was so envious of Myrrah's beauty that she played an evil trick on Myrrah that led to Myrrah becoming physically intimate with her own father and king, Cinyrus. Enraged by the trickery, Cinyrus chased his daughter Myrrah to kill her. Observing this, Aphrodite hid Myrrah's baby, Adonis, in a box and left it in the care of Hades' wife, Persephone.

Adonis was so beautiful that both Aphrodite and Persephone argued over his custody, wanting him to themselves. Tired of the bickering, Zeus, king of the Greek gods, eventually had to settle the matter by intervening. He mandated that Adonis spend half the year with each.

Notice how this millennia-old Greek mythology sounds very similar to a modern-day soap opera. Well, there's one thing true about life-it has been complicated since time immemorial.
