A child when it begins to understand wants answers to his/ her explorations…. A youth seeks answers to various emotional issues…An adult looks for answers to socio-economic challenges… old age desperately searches for answers to health and life problems.
Each of us has some quest in life depending on our age and situation in life. Not every search is fulfilled and not many questions can be answered. Mortality is the biggest question mark in each of our lives, knowingly or unknowingly. When we begin to question this, then all our energies are focused on the nature of karma and the concept of a soul.
Everything that exists is the bearer of a soul. Thus all of creation is really made up of soul. Understanding the quality and purpose of a soul can probably answer most of our queries in life.
Such a quest which enables us to empower ourselves with immortality is the greatest quest of life. Let us at least attempt to comprehend and decode our Life’s Quest.
The pillars supporting our journey called “life” are karma and the soul. The idea of dividing the books “life’s quest” into two parts were primarily for this reason. Without an understanding of karma, its existence to begin with, and then its inception in our lives, the importance of the soul could never ever be understood.
One’s nature or true “dharma has its roots in the soul or “atma”, the reason for all karmic binding in the first place. However, the mesmeric quality of karma, as has been described in the former book, “life’s Quest”…the journey of karma, misleads and disallows a person from understanding the complex interplay between karma and the soul.
The seed of karma grows in the ever moist and anointed soil of the soul, where flowering is easy. The properties that make this soil to fertile are…… the truth of existence…an ever conscious state bereft of delusion… and eternal bliss. Karma veils these attributes which then become forgotten. The soul thus becomes adulterated to acts or tasks done with much ease. But when the time comes to tend to it or uproot it then the effort required considerably increases.
“Life’s Quest”…. Journey of the soul presents those present those opportunities and inspirations that will allow and enable each one of us to become true people…an asset for our contemporaries… an ideal for our children… and a friend to all who are meet in our journey called “life”. It is only friendship that can allow final emancipation as you have no more scores left to settle with anyone. The journey thus is finally terminated and replaced by the illuminating and existential quality of salvation, also called “Mukti” or “Moksha”.
