Tolerance, the catholicity of attitude, respect for one another's beliefs, and a readiness to abide by the principles of self-discipline are all taught via the exercise of religious freedom. Non-official established religion in a state is referred to as secularism, and the state does not discriminate against its inhabitants on the basis of their faith. The concept of religious freedom is a western concept. It arose because of the conflict "between church and state. Thereafter, it was decided to build a wall of separation between religion and the state". As a result, in Western societies, there is a clear line between religion and the state. The state has no role in matters of religion. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term 'Religious Liberty' refers to a doctrine that states that morality must be based solely in relation to the good of mankind in the present life, excluding all ideas based on belief in God should future condition.

Religious freedom "is derived from the word" "Secular' which is derived from the classical expression 'Religious Liberty' which means not attached to religion, not sacred, and not monastic.

There are three systems of religious freedom in practice. In the first system, the state explicitly distances itself from religious affairs. Such a system exists in the USA. In another system, there is an established church that is governed by the state in many important aspects, and religions are tolerated and considered a private matter between individuals. '
