About The Book Ladakh: the Paradise of Buddhist Art and Trade Routes explores the triumph of aesthetic expression that bloomed thousand years or even before in the vales of Himalayas, mainly created through interexchange of material culture and ideas streaming on the trade routes between India and its immediate west, across the Himalayas. Closer proximity with the Silk Route brought not only the bounty of riches to Kashmir and Ladakh, but enormously enriched aesthetic creativity vibrating with multinational and multicultural patterns and hues. In a true sense the art of Ladakh, to which this book is focused, is an international art style which unfolds sensibility, generosity and malleability of the mediaeval societies that lived and loved serene beauty and compassion, leaving imprints as the heritage in the old Buddhist monasteries in the land of solitude.

About the Author Dr Khushboo Chaturvedi has completed her doctoral degree in History of Art from Banaras Hindu University and presently teaching at Amity University, Noida. Besides being interested in Himalayan art history she passionately paints Himalayan landscapes. She has been awarded junior fellowship of Ministry of Culture in 2009. She also delivered invite lectures at the Department of Culture Studies, University of Oslo, Norway. She has been engaged in the Himalayan Antiquities Digital Photographic Archive of Prof A K Singh and extensively travelled in the western Himalayan regions.
