Sri Veturi Anandamurthy garu published his book "Kshetrajnulu" (First edition) in Telugu in 1989, I am delighted to mention that in 2022 I got a god-sent opportunity of revising, editing and bringing out the second edition of " Kshetrajnulu ". The book contains commentaries for 35 select padams of Kshetrayya that Sri Vetur Anandamurthy garu chose to bring out. While elaborating on his thoughts on the padams in the commentaries he focused on various aspects - nayika, nayaka, theme, mood, music, ragas, dance, philosophy, spirituality, references to bhagavatam and puranic episodes; social conditions and practices and their influence on cultural practices. He also dwelt on the influence of all of the above on Kshetrayya, his usage of literary and musical expressions and his writing style. The commentary that is given after each padam deals with one or more of the aspects that are listed above.
The current English version "Kshetrayya Padams" (First Edition) that I'm bringing out in July 2024 is a translation of the book " Kshetrajnulu " (Second Edition-2022) that I published. Each padam comprises an introduction, the text of the song in Telugu, Samskrtam and English; elaborate meaning and elucidation of the song: English transliteration and translation of the commentary and notation for the song. On the contents page the list of padams is given along with a brief synopsis of the theme and a succinct idea about the subject and focus of each padam. For ease of reading the Telugu transliteration and English translation of the selected text that would fit in a page has been presented on each page. The transliteration and translation have been given in two columns on the same page for conveneince of reading.
