The Krtyakalpataru of Laksmidhara, is the voluminous, earliest available digest, dealing with all the different aspects of Dharmasastra in fourteen separate parts named Kandas. Several other volumes of the same have been published under the Gaekwad's Oriental Series. Laksmidhara mentions himself as the Chief Minister for Peace and War of the king, Govindacandradeva, who was son of Bhatta Hrdayadhara. As early as in 1934, His Highness Maharaja Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad of Baroda invited Principal Prof. K.V. Rangaswami Aiyangar to edit some work under the Gaekwad's Oriental Series. With the help of the transcripts of the Manuscripts of several Kandas of the Krtyakalpataru, procured.

This book- incorporates XIII volume, Santikanda of the same, which is being published for the first time on the basis of the rarest manuscripts. It gives me great pleasure to present to the world of scholars this book of the Santikanda of the Krtyakalpataru, being published as the Gaekwad's Oriental Series no. 185. We are thankful to Dr. Milind Joshi, Research Officer for his whole-hearted co operation and assistance in meticulously going through the proofs, carefully and promptly preparing and arranging the Appendices. We also thank Dr. U. M. Brahmachari, Research Officer, for carefully checking the sequence of the indices. Overall guidance of Dr. S.Y.
