The story of Krishna never ends; our capacity to describe him is limited, and when our limit is reached we abandon it half way!
I am not aware how and when my relation with Krishna commenced. The way Krishna approaches is wonderful. He silently enters into one's life, unawares. In fact, in reality, Krishna is our life. our soul. Once he leaves us, our body is on fire the way Arjuna's chariot was on fire after Krishna got down from it. We are unable to know when He enters our life or leaves it. So far as my poems on Krishna are concerned, I cannot say how and when my first poem was written, how it came into existence and at what age I wrote it. For me, He has not been the topic of my poems; He has been my life itself! So when I say I am writing poems on Krishna, I try to say it with all humility but still my ego comes to the fore. In fact, I have no idea when did Krishna decide to enter my poems!
In 1962, I joined Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, when Kulapati Munshi was my idol of inspiration. He was at that time writing in English his great novel Krishnavatar". From the second half of his first book to the last chapter (12th) of his eighth book, I was deeply associated with him. He could not finish his last eighth volume, perhaps, Krishna on whom he was writing became a little cruel and left his worldly body!
The writer Munshi I always liked and admired and his 'Krishnavatar' had created a deep impression on me, and I was inspired to write my first novel after joining the Bhavan. I consider it God's grace that I could remain near Shri Munshi and witness his writings on Krishna. I consider it an extraordinary book from Lord Krishna!
I personally got involved in the search for Lord Krishna along with Munshiji, and I could write the poem 'Madhav Kyay Nathi' in 1966. After writing this poem, I became very restless in my search for Krishna and that inspired me to write my novel 'Madhav Kyay Nathi' (Where are you, my Madhav! its English version a Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Publication 1988).
